COCKTAILS ANYONE? STAY AT A HOTEL NEAR COVENT GARDEN FOR LONDON COCKTAIL WEEK

Staying at the Regency House, one of the finest hotels near Covent Garden, offers the best opportunity to take full advantage of delights of London Cocktail Week between 6-12 October.  It is only a few minutes walk over to Seven Dials where the majority of the events take place. With seven cobbled streets radiating from a central sundial, Seven Dials is a very pretty part of Covent Garden.

Buy a wristband on line or from a participating cocktail bar and enjoy the week long fun.  Apart from entry to events, the wristbands allow you to obtain signature cocktails at discounted prices.

London cocktail week

During the six day event, over 100 cocktail bars around central London will be holding tasting sessions, pop up events, parties and master classes teaching how to pour the perfect cocktail.  If you have never tried cocktails before, this is a brilliant introduction and the concoctions on offer are wide ranging. Why not try a Covent Garden (a mix of Gin, elderflower, apple and lemon) at Jamie Oliver’s Secret Basement Bar in Covent Garden or a Xuan Wu (Vodka, watercress, honey puree, Chinese spices, apricot, orange and lime) from Circus in Endell Street?  What about a Hurryberry at 5CC Exmouth Arms? It is a glorious spicy, peppery and sweet mix of tequila, agave sweetened raspberry and wild rocket.

Shaftesbury Avenue is less than a minute’s walk away and has several participating cocktail bars such as Freud’s CafĂ©, the London Cocktail Bar and Jamie Oliver's Diner.  The Freud Couch is irresistible – a combination of ginseng liqueur, grapefruit with spirits, grapefruit liqueur, elderflower and lime.

Having experimented with cocktails around Seven Dials, return for a quick rest at your hotel near Covent Garden before moving further afield for an evening boat trip.  A short walk northwards to Kings Cross  – or if you prefer the Underground, it is only a few minutes away – will lead to a relaxing, cocktail fuelled voyage on board Vestal Voyage’s pop-up bar and distillery.  An hour long journey leads travellers through the longest tunnel on the Regent Canal while sipping cocktails.  It makes for a very memorable experience as the boat slowly, quietly slips through the darkness.  Then back to the Regency House, best of the Covent Garden hotels, for a much needed sleep – before starting again next day!
